Still Grateful for San Francisco - Superfine Art Fair Recap

Another one for the books.

Home base for the weekend.

My first experience with an art fair was back in July when I road-tripped up to the Superfine show in Seattle. In case you haven’t read the recap of the fair, IT WAS AWESOME.

I knew immediately that I wanted to go for it again, so I signed up and waited patiently for the San Francisco iteration to arrive.

The whole adventure started off on a high note with a beautiful, smooth drive through southern Oregon & northern California. Maybe it’s my Midwest roots but I think I’ll always be blown away by the size and breadth of the Pacific Northwest wilderness.

But as the towering buildings began to loom on the horizon, I got more and more excited to experience the other part of my personality that LOVES big cities. In the bit of free time I had before setup and the first day of the fair, I made plans to see what the SF art scene has to offer.

(I was going to share some photos from SFMOMA as well but honestly, I took way too many to choose.)

Then after a smooth and sweaty setup, the fair was on!

While I unfortunately felt like my usual sleep deprived self since, in an effort to be a frugal artist, I stayed at the cheapest motel I could find, I was very grateful to be walking distance to the venue.

One of the best parts of the trip was preparing my mind for the day on the walk to the venue, and the quiet reflection I was afforded on the walk home.

It really is a wild experience to create things that fully represent your insides and then have people love them enough to give you their hard earned money in exchange.

It is absolutely something I will never take for granted and I am forever grateful for events like Superfine for facilitating it.

I can’t thank you enough Lexie & Matt!

As always, massive thank you to Kait, Casper, & Boom for being the best, most supportive family I could ever ask for, to everyone behind the scenes at Superfine who bust ass to make rad events where dreams come true, and to all my awesome neighbors at the show who you should absolutely check out and support!

And of course, HUGE thanks to everyone who came by, hung out, bought paintings & prints, and tried out the mini vending machine (including everyone I forgot to take photos with)!

This photo will never not crack me up.
