ABOUT THE ARTWORK
Named after a John William Waterhouse painting from 1874, this contemporary work continues to probe the relationship between sleep and death, with both including a loss of conscious thought in addition to each night of sleep bringing one day closer to death. In classic Memento Mori fashion, Sleep & His Half Brother Death is meant to encourage an appreciation for the life and time we have.
This original painting is a part of my NIGHT LIFE collection.
