Spring Break Jake at Superfine Seattle Art Fair

Dad & his doodles are off to the big city!

Boy have I been quiet on this here blog lately, but I think there's good reason for that!

Besides settling into a new job (what's that?) and forever figuring out how to be a dad, I've been painting my brains out for my very first art fair!

From July 27-30, I'll be deep in the district of Belltown at Block 41 in Seattle for the Superfine Art Fair.

To say I'm nervous would be quite an understatement.

For starters, art fairs are NOT cheap, and this is really the first time I've made any significant financial investment in my career outside of buying a computer. To try to put it lightly, I'm really really really hoping it ends up being worth it.

But also there's quite a bit of vulnerability to these things. My art, and frankly all art, is basically putting your whole brain on display for people to judge with their money. Plus it's not like a month-long gallery show where I'm not there most of the time. I'll be standing directly next to my exposed brain for three days straight hoping people like my work enough to even stop by and talk about it, let alone buy it.

All that to say this is going to be a hell of a ride and ultimately I'm just grateful for the opportunity to gain this experience. Who knows, maybe this will be the best thing I've ever done for my career and I end up doing a bunch of these!

I will say one thing that would really help is to see some friendly faces there, which is my segué into mentioning that I actually get a bunch of free passes to the show, so if you live in and around Seattle, PLEASE email or DM me if you want one, I'd be more than happy to hook it up!

I'll be exhibiting quite a few new pieces including smaller, more price-friendly ones like a whole series of works on paper, as seen in the poorly edited photos below.

Hope to see you there!
